Project Info
We have been hired to install 48,000 sq. ft. epoxy floors in the warehouse. The company approached us directly and was impressed by our expertise and the details we provided during the initial consultation. The company was very pleased with the end result and for peace of mind, we provided 5 years warranty on the epoxy coating we installed.

Epoxy Coating
The epoxy coating process involves several steps. The first step includes preparing the surface area. Typically, surface preparation can be accomplished by grinding or sanding the floor. The second step includes cleaning and sweeping the floor. Because it is essential for all dust particles to be removed, it is recommended that an industrial vacuum be used to complete this step. The third and fourth steps include priming the floor and filling all holes and cracks. Priming is important because it prolongs the life of your floor. In the fifth step, the first coat of Epoxy paint is applied to the floor. And, in the sixth step, the second application of Epoxy paint takes place 24 hours later.
Two years ago, we completed an epoxy flooring project for Mint Pharmaceutical Company, which is located in Mississauga. The 48,000 square-foot projects required us to install light gray epoxy flooring.
Bidding for this project was very competitive. We were able to outmaneuver eight other companies by accurately articulating the epoxy process and by providing quick responses to all inquiries.
We were also able to produce four great references upon demand.
This project was challenging at times due to having to share our workspace with other companies. Our timing had to coincide with the movements of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) personnel and roofing personnel. Time was of the essence! This project had to be completed within 10 days! As such, we could not afford to allow our work to be hindered by others.
We walked into this project knowing that it would require very expensive equipment and a large number of man-hours. We knew that a regular grinding machine would not be able to handle this type of project because of its slow operation in preparing the floor for epoxy coatings. A shot blasting machine by Dynamic was the only acceptable equipment for this magnitude of a project. This type of machine could profile and prepare a floor at the rate of 10,000 to 15,000 square feet per day. It was a must-have for this project, and only two companies in the Greater Toronto Area owned one. This particular machine allowed five to six technicians to tackle the floor on a daily basis. It played a pivotal role in our ability to complete this project on time.
There were challenging aspects to this project. One such aspect involved our ability to maneuver around certain obstacles. Prior to beginning this project, racks had been installed by Mint Pharmaceutical Company. These racks proved to be a challenge because they not only required us to work around them, but to hand grind them as well. The successful completion of this project required my technicians to work 10 to 12 hours each day. The end result yielded a beautiful 48,000 square-foot polished concrete floor, covered with two coats of light gray epoxy.
Any type of company would benefit from having an epoxy floor, especially pharmaceutical and medical facilities. An epoxy floor is much easier to clean compared to a plain concrete floor. Naked concrete tends to be very dusty. And, as time progresses, naked concrete will become very dirty. However, a concrete floor that is covered with epoxy makes floor care seamless, and it contributes to a cleaner environment.
